Nehemiah believed that God would frustrate his enemies (freeing Nehemiah to continue following God’s plan in obedience, action and faith).

But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat. 15When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to his own work. 20Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!

Reflect: In your own experience: Do you continue to follow God’s path, trusting him to deal with your opposition, or do you refocus the bulk of your energy into facing the opposition yourself?

Application: Stop and ask God to reveal himself to you in fresh ways as you faithfully live out his purposes for your life. Ask him to give you the perseverance to stay the course, regardless of the obstacles you face.
