Nehemiah believed that God’s ways are the only ways, so God is worth fearing (respecting) and obeying!

Key Passage: Nehemiah 5:9,13
So I continued, “What you are doing is not right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our Gentile enemies?” … 13I also shook out the folds of my robe and said, “In this way may God shake out of his house and possessions every man who does not keep this promise. So may such a man be shaken out and emptied!” At this the whole assembly said, “Amen,” and praised the LORD. And the people did as they had promised.

Reflect: How do you believe Nehemiah became a volunteer leader who demonstrated true convictions in his relationship with God, instead of remaining merely an exile with warm and fuzzy ideas about God?









• Whose example has been an inspiration to you in sacrificing personal benefits or rights for the sake of a team? What have you learned from observing this example?
