Building blocks for effective leadershipIf you haven't completed the assignment from the intro study, I invite you to read quickly through Nehemiah chapters 1-7 to gain an overview of this season in Nehemiah’s life. Our teenager who was taken captive and raised in a foreign land has done well in spite of the BIG PROBLEMS he faced at a young age. He finds himself in a key job and a key place, in a unique moment in history. He is "others-aware" enough to lift his head from his own small view of the world to see what is happening in God's bigger realm. He cares enough for God's perspective that he let's the BIG PROBLEM--that God's people aren't worshiping Him--grab his heart. He lets what bothers God, bother him! And it keeps bothering him till he finds God's way for him to do something about it. BIG QUESTIONS: What needs capture your heart that are similar to the needs that grabbed Nehemiah’s heart? What BIG PROBLEM in our world bothers God that He wants us to be stirred about? Is worshiping God a central theme at your high school? In your church? In your home? In your community? I wonder what would happen over the next year if you allowed what bothered God to bother you... NOTE: You can listen to an online audio challenge about this point when you click AUDIO CHALLENGE throughout these Big God studies. ASSIGNMENT: As you reread Nehemiah chapters 1-7 (over the next month), note the following building blocks for effective leadership. Which chapters and verses highlight each building block (below) of Nehemiah's strategy? 1. Prayerful Dependence: For the next 10 studies, we will explore Nehemiah’s accurate and active view of God. Assignment: Stop and ask God to reveal himself to you just as he revealed himself to Nehemiah. |
ISSUE 2: This edition will help prepare you for the next 10 studies that more clearly reveal HOW BIG our God really is!An often overlooked teenager named Nehemiah faced big problems but grew up into an "unlikely" spiritual and national hero. His life can help you get ahold of a BIG view of God that will cause you to worship and live life with much more faith, passion and bigger dreams! REVIEW: |
